Cashmere is expensive and delicate, which means it needs to be cleaned and cared for if it’s going to last for years and years.
Fortunately, it’s not hard to keep your cashmere shawl or scarf looking lovely with a few simple steps – ensuring that it becomes softer with time.
With use, your cashmere shawl or scarf may need to be cleaned from time to time. There are two basic ways to clean cashmere properly.
The most economical and simplest way is to clean your cashmere by hand. Here’s the step-by-step process:
- Carefully and gently handwash your shawl or scarf in cold water using a natural shampoo. I use Sukin.
Don’t stretch or scrub while washing – an easy massaging will do! - Rinse the garment and let it dry naturally. Gently press the water out of the wet shawl, smooth it out and place it to dry flat on a clean bath towel.
- Once dry, your cashmere will be ready to wear again – clean as new and even softer than before.
